Caminho do Bem (or ‘Path of Good’) is a program from Africell, the Fundação Arte e Cultura and the Provincial Government of Luanda giving young adults from foster homes in Angola’s capital paid internship opportunities at Africell.

Africa has a rapidly digitising economy but according to the World Bank, it still has a shortfall of digital skills . This is a disadvantage. The International Finance Corporation estimates that almost 250 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will demand digital skills by 2030 . If this digital shift is to improve growth, productivity and living standards, Africa’s youth must embrace more digital opportunities.

Caminho do Bem tackles this by offering young Angolans work experience in a living and breathing technology company. With more than five million subscribers and a state-of-the-art 5G-enabled network, Africell is at the forefront of digitising Angola. It is an ideal environment for candidates to learn digital skills and essential professional competencies such as teamwork, leadership and timekeeping.

To celebrate the first graduating class of Caminho do Bem, we asked participants and their managers what the experience meant to them.
